Staff members of Zwick and Jahn Funeral Homes are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors.
The son of well-known Bluffton funeral director Ralph Jahn, Mark graduated in 1974 from the Indiana School of Mortuary Science and started his employment with the D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home in Ft. Wayne.
Mark has been with Zwick & Jahn since 1979 when he and his wife Julie moved to Decatur from Ft. Wayne and he became a partner in the company named Zwick – Boltz & Jahn Funeral Home as the name reflected the owners of the business. In 2002, Mark became the senior partner in the operation of the funeral home and continues in that capacity to the current day, providing the management and direction for the company.
Mark has been married to his wife, Julie, since 1977. Mark and Julie have 3 children and 7 grandchildren and attend the Decatur Church of God.
Mark maintains his activity in the community by being involved in the Decatur Rotary Club and the Adams County Community Foundation where he serves as a Board Member.
What gives you the greatest satisfaction in working for Zwick & Jahn:
Serving others as we would want to be served. I am blessed to have chosen a career that I never have regretted. Our staff includes some of the very best people I have ever had the opportunity to work with. Even after 47 years as a licensed funeral director, I still look forward to coming to work.
Bill, as he is simply known, began his career in funeral service in the 1950’s while in high school at the Zwick Funeral Home, which at that time also included a furniture store, monument store, and ambulance service. Following his graduation from Valparaiso University and mortuary school, Bill returned to Decatur on a full time basis. He also joined the Indiana Air National Guard and was stationed in Ft. Wayne with the 122nd Tactical Fighter Wing. In 1961, in response to the Berlin Crisis of 1961, the 122nd was activated and deployed to France. Bill spent several months in France, until the conflict ended and he was able to return to the family business.
Bill has always believed in education and the use of technology to meet the ever changing needs of those making funeral arrangements. Though “retired”, Bill stays connected with the activities of the funeral home on a daily basis, either in person or via the internet when spending his winters in Florida.
In December, Bill will have been married to his wife, Eileen for 56 years. Bill and Eileen have three children; ten grandchildren; and four great grandsons. They are both members of St. John Lutheran Church – Bingen where Bill was a longtime fixture in the church choir (he has been singing since age 15). Bill also sings with the Lutheran Men of Song and the Decatur Circuit Lutheran Chorale. When in Florida, Bill and Eileen were charter members in the formation of Trinity Lutheran Church of Southwest Florida where Bill also sings in the choir. Bill is also a member of the American Legion Post 43 in Decatur, the Decatur Rotary Club (where he is the longest serving member), National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), and the Indiana Funeral Directors Association where he was a former District 3 Director from 2005 - 2009.
Over the past 57 years, Bill has witnessed many changes in how the funeral home operates, but one focus has remained the same; “The Golden Rule – “Treat others the way that you would like to be treated” which has been a guiding principle and influence on this organization to the current day.
Jon joined the staff of Zwick & Jahn in 1994, becoming the 4th generation of the Zwick Family to be involved in the funeral home. He is a 1988 graduate of Bellmont High School, a 1992 graduate of Valparaiso University, and a 1993 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Following his graduation from CCMS, he served his apprenticeship at Siferd Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio before successfully completing licensure in the State of Ohio. After moving back to Decatur, Indiana in 1994, he fulfilled the reciprocal licensing requirements for Indiana and currently maintains both Ohio and Indiana Funeral Director’s licenses. Jon is a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association (OFDA) in addition to the Indiana Funeral Directors Association (IFDA). In 2019, he was appointed the District #3 Director for the IFDA Board of Directors, a position he still currently holds.
Jon and his wife Nikki have 6 children together along with four grandchildren and live in Decatur where they attend St. John Lutheran Church – Bingen. He volunteers whenever possible to help with church events as his schedule allows. Staying busy is Jon’s most important hobby. He continues to play his trumpet which he started in the sixth grade. He currently plays “Taps” for several local veteran organizations in addition to as many Northeast Indiana Honor Flight missions as possible. He will also lend his talent by playing for several area church services each year.

Meeting with a family that has just suffered a loss and assisting them in creating a service that provides meaning to them and guiding them through their grief provides me the greatest satisfaction. Having a terrific group of co-workers to provide support only adds to this satisfaction. This organization is only as good as the group together…and we have a great group with a terrific and caring heart.
Shaun resumed his role with Zwick & Jahn as a licensed funeral director in October of 2018. He was born in Decatur and lived here until his mother passed away from leukemia when he was 9 and the family then moved to Delphos, Ohio.
Following his graduation from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, Shaun moved to Ft. Wayne and worked for the D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home. In 1997, he moved to Decatur and joined the staff at Zwick & Jahn. In 1999, Shaun decided to leave the funeral service entirely and began working for Bunge in Decatur.
During his tenure at Bunge, Shaun had kept current on his licensing requirements for Indiana. After 18 years at Bunge, he realized how much he missed funeral service and sought to re-enter the profession. In January of 2018, he began working part-time for Zwick & Jahn, which eventually led to a full-time position in October. In 2020, Shaun returned to Bunge but continued keeping his license current and assisting as he can. In 2021, returned to become the Director of Preparation Arts at the funeral home, allowing him to serve in the place that provides him the most rewarding position...caring for the deceased and managing the behind-the-scenes aspects of funeral service.
Shaun is married to Amy Rumschlag, who is employed by the Purdue Extension Office and manages the 4-H Program in Adams County. He has 2 daughters who attend St. Joseph Catholic School and Bellmont High School. He spends most of his time watching his daughters at volleyball and basketball games in addition to chasing pigs and sheep around for 4-H. Shaun and Amy are members of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur.

Sam is a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Bluffton, Indiana. Without my faith, I would not be the person I am. A verse that I take great comfort in and I hope my actions reflect is found in 2nd Corinthians 1:3-4, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
He remains active in the Berne Rotary Club, Adams County Farm Bureau, and serves on the International Order of Golden Rule Future Leader Council.

Helping families honor the life of their loved one. It’s such an emotional time for everyone involved, if we can help ease that burden, that’s what brings us joy! I also work with hands-down, the most caring, Christian, and compassionate staff…from the directors to the office staff, to the support staff, to the maintenance staff. They all have hearts for people that are hurting.
Molly has been with Zwick & Jahn since 2011. She was originally hired as a sales associate for Liby Monuments, a position she currently maintains.
