Lucinda Marvalene (Sprunger) Coblentz

Lucinda Marvalene (Sprunger) Coblentz, 92, of Berne, Indiana passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Envive in Berne, Indiana.

She was born on February 4, 1932, in Berne, Indiana to the late Oscar and Emma (Hofstetter) Sprunger.

She was united in marriage to Larry Leon Coblentz Sr. on May 22, 1955, at First Mennonite Church in Berne. He preceded her in death.

Lucinda was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and was a Compassion Ministry volunteer.

She was a devoted wife and mother and loved raising her family more than anything. She loved spending time with her kids all the way up to her great-great-grandchildren. Loving, caring, compassionate, always smiling, was the “glue” that holds the family together. When the kids “acted up” she always pointed a finger and said “wait till your dad gets home!” She was an avid recycler and babysitter when needed.

Lucinda is survived by her daughter, Cindy Arnold of Berne, Indiana; daughter, Sonja (Dale) Bridges of Westmoreland, Tennessee; son, Larry Coblentz Jr. of Bellaire, Michigan, daughter, Mindy (Cowboy) Deming of Bullhead City, Arizona; son, Gary Coblentz of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter, Tonja (Ernie) Serna of Olathe, Kansas; son, Barry Coblentz of Berne, Indiana; sister, Clarnell (Sprunger) Smith of Berne, Indiana; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents; she was preceded in death by a brother, Omer Sprunger.

Celebration of life service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, with Pastor Thomas Craig officiating at Berne Senior Center following the service there will be a time for visiting and sharing stories until 2:30 p.m.  Burial will take place at a later date at M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne, Indiana.

Friends and family will be received from 2-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.

In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to the family. (checks payable to Barry Coblentz)
