Eleanor J. Flueckiger

Eleanor J. Flueckiger, 97, of Berne, Indiana passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 16, 2023, at Swiss Village in Berne, Indiana.

She was born in Berne, Indiana on February 22, 1926, to the late Alvin Kennel and the late Linda (Lehman) Kennel. She was united in marriage to Carl Hult in 1946, and they shared many happy years together until his passing in 1974. In 1976, she found love again with Ray Reel, who sadly preceded her in death in 1986. Eleanor's heart remained open, and she married Paul Schug in 1989, who passed away in 1990. She later found companionship with Howard Flueckiger in 1997, and they enjoyed a loving marriage until his passing in March of 2021.

Eleanor was a long-time member of First Mennonite Church in Berne, Indiana.

Eleanor graduated from Monroe High School before pursuing a degree in nursing. Eleanor's commitment to service led her to the mission field in Mexico, where she dedicated two years of her life to helping others following the death of her first husband, Carl Hult, in 1974. Eleanor's love for her family was evident in her role as a devoted homemaker.

Throughout her life, Eleanor had the opportunity to live in various places around the world, including San Jose, California; Guadalupe, Baja California, Mexico; Vienna, Austria; Rota, Spain; and Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Providing lifelong memories and stories.

She is survived by her son, Steven Hult of Berne, Indiana; son, Terry (Debbie) Hult of Kalispell, Montana; son, Pastor Eric (Jana) Hult of Redding California; sister, Marilyn Yoder of Berne, Indiana; grandson, Kurtis (Jamie) Hult; granddaughter, Kristina (Greg) Bambino; and two great-grandchildren, Greyson Bambino and Neva Eleanor Bambino.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Kennel, and her sister, Anita Sprunger.

A funeral service for Eleanor will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023, at First Mennonite Church in Berne, Indiana with Pastor Jeff Linthicum officiating. Burial will follow at M.R.E. Cemetery of rural Berne, Indiana.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Preferred memorials can be given to First Mennonite Church – Missions.
