Wilda Scheumann , 91, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Ossian Health & Rehabilitation in Ossian, Indiana.
She was born October 6, 1930, in Allen County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Lawrence Bradtmueller and the late Alma (Boenker) Bradtmueller. Wilda was united in marriage to Norman Scheumann on May 19, 1951, at St John Lutheran Church – Bingen. He prededed her in death on August, 4, 2012.
Wilda was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble, where she was a Sunday school teacher. Wilda was a founding and lifelong member of the Preble Volunteer Fire Department Auxillary. She graduated from Hoagland High School in 1949. Out of high school she worked at Wayne Paper Box Company, she baby sat for numerous children before she retired in 1995 from North Adams School with 11 years of service as an Aide for the special needs bus.
In conjunction with her involvement at church, she also assisted making noodles and Christmas cookies but her greatest passion was being involved in the church quilting club. Along with her sisters and sister-in-law’s, they created countless quilts both for family members and those in the community that would request a quilt. She had a lifelong love of flowers and even to her last days was concerned how they were growing. She developed a lifelong passion for doing puzzles, which started with her father Lawrence when she was a young lady…which her caregivers continued and loved to put puzzles together with Wilda.
Survivors include her son, Kerry L. Scheumann of Dundee, Florida; son, Warren D. Scheumann of Decatur, Indiana; son, Marlin W. (Lisa) Scheumann of Decatur, Indiana; son, Nolan G. (Corene) Scheumann of Decatur, Indiana; son, Darren L. (Trisha) Scheumann of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Gilbert (Marilyn) Bradtmueller of New Haven, Indiana; sister, Annette Werling of New Haven, Indiana; sister-in-law, Paula Bradtmueller of Hoagland, Indiana; sister-in-law, Rosina Bradtmueller of New Haven, Indiana; grandchildren, Emily (Adam) Minnich, Natalie (Stuart) Aspy, Kaylee Scheumann, Brooke (Tony) Bell, Marissa (Matthew) Stamm, Daniel Scheumann and Felicia Scheumann; great grandchildren, Clayton Minnich, Tyson Minnich, Tucker Hartzell, Willa Aspy and Bryson Bell.
She was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Linda Scheumann; two sisters, Florine Kiefer, Pauline Bradtmueller and Velma Macke; three brothers, Victor Bradtmueller, Wilbert Bradtmueller and Loyd Bradtmueller; brother-in-laws, Elmer Kiefer, Don Werling and Vern Macke and sister-in-law, Marie Bradtmueller.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble, Indiana with Pastor Andrew Yeager officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Ossian, Indiana. For those unable to attend, the service will be available on the St Paul Lutheran Church, Preble YouTube channel.
Friends and family will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Preferred memorials can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble, Heart to Heart Hospice or donor’s choice.
