Wanda L. Hamrick

Wanda Lucille Hamrick, 94, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Monday, June 19, 2023, at Adams Heritage in Monroeville, Indiana.

She was born on October 28, 1928, in Decatur Indiana to the late Russell L. Gibson and the late Gladys Fern (Young) Gibson. Wanda was united in marriage to Frederick “Zeke” Hamrick on September 21, 1957, in Allen County, Indiana and he preceded her in death on August 29, 2006.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur, Indiana.

Wanda was employed for 43 years at Magnavox in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Wanda loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved traveling, and gambling. In her earlier years, she enjoyed camping fishing and roller skating Happy Hour Roller Rink with family. Wanda loved to talk on the phone with family and friends. In her spare time she enjoyed doing her “homework”, word searches and loved to watch Wheel of Fortune followed by Jeopardy in the evenings.

Survivors include her two sons, Rick L. Hamrick and Brad D. Hamrick both of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Sheila F. (Randy) Shoaf of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Sharon Pursly of Whiteland, Indiana; brother, Lloyd Gibson of New Mexico; two grandchildren, Tiffany Shoaf and Amber Shoaf; and three great-grandchildren, Braxton, Savannah, and Quention.

She was preceded in death by a son, James R. Hamrick; two brothers, Wade Gibson and Bill Gibson; and one sister, Helen Wildemen.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2023, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana with Pastor Zachary Oedewaldt officiating. Burial will follow in Tricker Cemetery. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday, June 23, 2023.
