Virginia M. Bertsch

Virginia M. Bertsch, 97, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Friday morning, April 12, 2024, at her residence.

She was born on April 16, 1926, in Adams County, Indiana to the late Curt Fritzinger and the late Vera (Hammond) Fritzinger. On September 8, 1945, Virginia married Lewis R. Bertsch in Adams County, Indiana and he preceded her in death on June 15, 2007.

Virginia was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Decatur, Indiana.

She served her family as a homemaker.

Virginia enjoyed making fudge, gardening, and flowers; especially geraniums. Virginia loved going to garage sales with Katie and “finding deals”, playing with her grandkids, and making memories with loved ones.

She is survived by her son, Rick (Kris) Bertsch of Davis, California; son, Ron (Shaun) Bertsch of Decatur, Indiana; four grandchildren, Celeste (Josh) Paquette, Jeremy (Emily) Bertsch, Sarah (Sam) Jones, and Tara Bertsch; and seven great-grandchildren, Grayson Jones, Arya Jones, Rucker Paquette, Rowan Paquette, Maddux Bertsch, Hudson Bertsch, and Ava Bertsch.

Virginia was preceded in death by two sons, Richard & Randal Bertsch.

A funeral service will be held on Virginia’s 98th birthday at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana with Rev. Allen Kahler officiating. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Adams County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Preferred memorials can be given to ACCF – Cancer Fund.
