Valerie A. Parrish

Valerie A. Parrish, 67, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Wednesday evening, December 27, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

She was born on September 25, 1956, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Doyle I. Painter and the late Vivian (Beam) Painter. Valerie was united in marriage to Richard Parrish on July 18, 1981, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.

Valerie graduated in 1975 as the Valedictorian from Bellmont High School. Valerie retired from NIPSCO after 38 years of service and she was the first woman service individual for the Fort Wayne Area. She additionally, gave many hours of volunteer work through NIPSCO.

She was an avid collector of Fenton Glass. Valerie’s family was her world.

Valerie is survived by her husband, Richard Parrish of Decatur, Indiana; son, Richard Parrish II of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Valyssa Parrish of Decatur, Indiana; son, Christopher Parrish of Decatur, Indiana; twin-sister, Victoria Ellis of Decatur, Indiana; two grandchildren, Addison Parrish and Kalum Parrish; and nephew, Aaron Ellis.

Family and friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.

Private family burial will be held at a later date at Decatur Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to A.C.C.F. – Cancer Fund.
