Thomas Sylvester Smith

Thomas Sylvester Smith, 85, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Christian Care Retirement Center in Bluffton, Indiana.

He was born on June 23, 1938 in Geneva, Indiana to the late Charles Sylvester Smith and the late Tennessee Renerva (Hicks) Smith.

Thomas served his country in the United States Marines Corps during Vietnam, where he was honorably discharged.  He worked in the auto repair business in Phoenix, Arizona.

Thomas was very mechanically oriented and was handy in all areas and aspects of life.

Survivors include his sister, Shirley (Dale) Wass of Decatur, Indiana; and his brother, Paul (Sharon) Smith of Decatur, Indiana.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Smith.

Private family services will be held.

Preferred memorials can be given to ProMedica Hospice through Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home.
