Terry J. Zimmerman

Terry J. Zimmerman, 72, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away early morning Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on October 27, 1949 in Decatur, Indiana to the late Mary (Wagner) Baker and late Gilbert Baker.

Terry served in the United States Army as a Sargent in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1972.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #420 and a member of the Color Guard.

Terry retired from Dana where he worked on the carrier line for 17 years. Prior to working at Dana he was employed at International Harvester for 10 years. Terry owned his own construction company specializing in dry walling in previous years.

Terry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He liked to spend his time playing cards and listening to music. His humor and quick wit kept everyone entertained.

He is survived by two sons, Matthew Zimmerman of Monroeville, Indiana and Adam (Victoria) Zimmerman of Woodburn, Indiana; a daughter, Catie (Keith)Knipstein of Decatur, Indiana; mother of his children, Phyllis Zimmerman of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Kay Gordon of Monroeville, Indiana; sister, Brenda Zimmerman of Monroeville, Indiana; brother, David Baker of Monroeville, Indiana; sister, Gilda (Tim) Schroeder of Monroeville, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Hunter, Bailey, Delaney, Adilynn, Brody, Lane, Joshua and Jordan; and three great-grandchildren, Lennon, Remy and Gwen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Kimberly Zimmerman.

Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #420 following the visitation on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the funeral home in Monroeville.

Friends and family will be received from 12:00 p.m. noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana.

Preferred memorials are to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or American Legion Post# 420.
