Susan M. Schwartz

Susan M. Schwartz, 69, of Monroe, Indiana passed away on Tuesday morning, April 15, 2025, at her residence.

She was born on December 24, 1955, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Menno S. and Maryann W. (Schwartz) Girod. Susan was united in marriage to Joe N. Schwartz on January 13, 1980, in Monroe, Indiana.

Susan was a member of the Old Order Amish and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Joe N. Schwartz of Monroe, Indiana; three brothers, Samuel M. (Ada) Girod of Berne, Indiana, David M. (Becky) Girod of Berne, Indiana, and Benjamin M. (Esther) Girod of Berne, Indiana; five sisters, Elizabeth M. Christner of Berne, Indiana, Josephine M. (Noah) Wengerd of Berne, Indiana, Martha M. (Noah B.) Schwartz of Decatur, Indiana, Mary M. (John B.) Schwartz of Henry Co, Indiana; and Emma M. (Sam J.) Christner of Monroe, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Joseph J. Schwartz, Matthew J. Schwartz, and Menno J. Schwartz; three brothers, Joseph M., Jerry M., and Amos M. Girod; and one sister, Lydia M. Girod.

A funeral service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Joe N. Schwartz residence, 1607 East 300 South Monroe, Indiana, with Bishop John N. Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow in the Schwartz Cemetery of rural Berne, Indiana.

Visitation will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, and from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Joe N. Schwartz residence.
