Stanley A. “Stan” Gallmeyer, 72, of Woodburn, Indiana, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
He was born on February 16, 1952 in Decatur, Indiana to the late Delbert and Selma (Neff) Gallmeyer.
Stan was united in marriage to Patricia Gibson on May 25, 1973 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville.
Stan was a member of St. John Lutheran Church – Flatrock in Monroeville. It was during this time that he established himself as a fixture in the Lutheran Men’s Softball League for many years…and at Three Kings Tavern after the games.
Stan was a lifelong electrician and longtime employee at Tokheim in Fort Wayne until it closed in 2003. Following this event, Stan was employed by Hanning and Bean in Fort Wayne, where he was the unofficial maintenance man who could “fix it all” until his retirement in 2024. Ironically, while employed at Hanning and Bean, it was in the same location where he had worked with Tokheim, so he never really left his original place of employment.
Stan was known for many things in his life. But, it was for FISHING that he will be most remembered. When he wasn’t fishing…and not catching anything, he had other hobbies. Whether trap shooting, playing euchre, 6 handed bid euchre, Pedro, or other card games with family or friends, Stan cherished the relationships he made with those family and friends. Stan followed the extra-curricular activities of his granddaughters and was proud of their participation and accomplishments.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia “Patti” Gallmeyer of Woodburn, Indiana; daughter, Jennifer (Roy) Sorg of Hoagland, Indiana; daughter, Stacy (Jeremy) Frick of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Michael Gallmeyer of Woodburn, Indiana; brother, Byron Gallmeyer (Susan deceased) of Hoagland, Indiana; brother, Jeff (Brenda) Gallmeyer of Roanoke, Indiana; brother, Kurt (Tammy) Gallmeyer of Springfield, Ohio; four granddaughters: Emily Sorg, Erica Sorg, Gabriella Frick, and Isabella Frick; Patricia’s family; sister, Carolyn Minick (Robert deceased) of Woodburn, Indiana; brother, Dr. Thomas Gibson (Sarah deceased) of Muncie, Indiana; and brother, Steven (Deb) Gibson of Woodburn, Indiana.
