Scott O. Minnich, 61, of Convoy, Ohio passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after a battle with cancer.
He was born on July 22, 1963, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to the late Jon and Patricia (Vachon) Minnich. Scott was united in marriage to Carey A. Stephenson on October 18, 2002 in Fort Wayne and she survives.
Scott was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1984 with the rank of Airman First Class. Following his discharge, he continued to serve his country with the Air National Guard, based at the 122nd Fighter Wing in Fort Wayne where he finally retired after 22 years of service.
Scott was a devoted member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert. In addition, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6034 in Van Wert, and the American Legion Post #420 in Monroeville.
Following his retirement from the United States Air Force, Scott was a manager at Metal Source in Decatur. He also worked at Martin INC, and Take-A-Part both in Fort Wayne.
Scott valued the time he spent being a parent and grandparent. He found pleasure in working in his shop at home fulfilling the “honey do projects” that were given to him. He also took pride in restoring automotive vehicles in his spare time.
Survivors include his wife, Carey A. Minnich of Convoy, Ohio; three daughters, Amber (Levi) Fairbanks of Sparta, Tennessee, Ashley Minnich of McMinnville, Tennessee, and Gabrielle Minnich of Dunkirk, New York; four sons, Brandon (Olivia) Minnick of Hoagland, Indiana, Matthew Minnick of Monroeville, Indiana, Zachary (Crystal) Minnich of Monroeville, Indiana, and Jacob Minnick of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Marijane (Michael) Crowe of New Haven, Indiana, brother, Emmett (Rose) Minnich of Convoy, Ohio; and sister, Annette (Russell) Spindler of Rockford, Ohio; and 17 grandchildren, Autumn Minnick, JT Smoot, Jayven Hillis, Mattilynn Minnick, Laythan Hillis, Jude Warner, Isabella Orick, Lexy Minnick, Isabella Warner, Jaxon Minnick, Connor Purk, Eden Minnick, Emery Minnich, Daphney Minnick, Maxton Minnick, Waylon Minnick, and Lincoln Minnick.
In addition to his parents, Scott was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Minnich; brother-in-law, Melvin Henry; and three nephews, Randy, Royce, and Regis Spindler.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Scott will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 601 Jennings Road, Van Wert, Ohio with Father Christopher Bohnsack officiating. Burial will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville and from 9:15 – 10:15 a.m. at the church on Friday.
The Holy Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Jacobs Chapel. Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Post #420, Monroeville in conjunction with the United States Air Force.
Preferred memorials can be given to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic School, Van Wert.
