Saundra A. Minger

Saundra A.  Minger, 75, of Berne, Indiana passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was born May 10, 1945 in Berne, Indiana to Laurel Mattax and Virginia (Flueckiger) Mattax.

Saundra was united in marriage to Keith L. Minger on November 2, 1963 at First Missionary Church in Berne, Indiana

She was a member of the 1963 Graduating Class of Adams Central High School. In her youth, Saundra attended the Spring Hill Church. She was a longtime member of the First Missionary Church in Berne, where she was active in the music department, as an organist, a member of the Wind Ensemble and the Hand Bell Choir. She also sang in a ladies ensemble.  She helped in the children’s department at First Missionary Church and helped with the Wednesday night Whirlybirds.

Before starting a family, Saundra was employed at CTS in Berne. She started as a waitress and then managed the Palmer House for Gaylord Stucky. Keith and Saundra were co-owners of Palmer House in Berne for over 30 years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, and taking vacations with them. She also enjoyed genealogy, sewing, and spending time at Lake Webster.

Saundra is survived by her husband of 57 years, Keith L. Minger of Berne, Indiana; daughter, Vikki Minger; son, Kevin (Kelly) Minger; daughter, Valerie (Chris) Thomas; daughter, Krista (Ryan) Mere all of Berne, Indiana; sister,  Rita (John) Carroll of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Linda (Keith) Keller of Berne, Indiana; sister, Susie (Tony) Braun of Berne, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Lauren Mere, Carson Thomas, Kyle Minger, Averie Mere, Haylee Thomas, Kaleb Minger, and Kendall Minger.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2021, at First Missionary Church in Berne with Pastor Rick Schwartz and Pastor Kris McPhearson officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Backesto Cemetery. The service will be live streamed on the First Missionary Church Facebook page or you can go to First Missionary Church website at https://fmcberne.com/ to view the service.

Friends and family will be received from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at First Missionary Church and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to First Missionary Church Music Department, or her grandchildren’s education fund checks can be made payable to Keith Minger.
