Saralyn S. Porter

Saralyn S. Porter, 78, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away Friday, August 12, 2022, at Adams Heritage in Monroeville, Indiana.

She was born on June 20, 1944 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Raymond D. and Donna B. (Dager) Gleckler.

On September 20, 1968, Saralyn was united in marriage to Roger “Sam” McDonald and he preceded her in death on August 11, 1987.  She was then married to John A. Porter on June 15, 1990 until his passing on March 7, 2005.

She was a member of the American Legion Post #420 Auxiliary where she served as a past president and secretary and the Monroeville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary where she served as former president and treasurer. Saralyn was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Monroeville where she was involved with the Ladies Guild.

She was a self-employed babysitter and formerly worked as a QMA/CNA at various nursing homes.

Saralyn enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting baby blankets, and caring for children.  She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs and horses.

She is survived by daughter, Tanya (Jeff) Hetler of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Cassy (Chad) Love of Monroeville, Indiana; step-daughter, Leeann “Annie” (Doug) Stemen of Monroeville, Indiana; two brothers, Ron (Rhonda) Gleckler of Monroeville, Indiana and Doug (Karen) Gleckler of Rio Vista, Texas; brother-in-law, Max Hart of Columbia City, Indiana; four grandchildren, Sam and Cade Hetler and Payton and Jaxon Love.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda K. Hart.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Monroeville, Indiana with Father Maicaal Lobo officiating. Burial will take place at Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana.

Preferred memorials are to Monroeville Fire Department, American Legion Post #420 Auxiliary, or Masses.

Arrangements are by Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana.
