Sarabelle Zeigler, 95, of Berne, Indiana passed away Thursday morning, August 25, 2022, at Swiss Village in Berne.
She was born on June 1, 1927, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Harvey and Rosa (Liechty) Beer. Sarabelle was united in marriage to Ivan Zeigler on March 28, 1948.
Sarabelle was a member of Cross Community Church in Berne and was a longtime Sunday School Teacher. She served as a former elder and deacon of the church. Sarabelle also previously was a member of Crossroad Children's Home Board of Directors in Fort Wayne and was active in many women’s organizations.
She graduated from Berne High School Class of 1945. Sarabelle was the owner of the Fashion, a dress shop in Berne. Additionally, she was also a cook at Hartford Township School and also was a waitress for several different restaurants in Berne. Sarabelle was very proud of being a farm wife working alongside her husband and she continued the farming operation following Ivan’s passing.
Sarabelle loved quilting, baking, playing cards, and helping others in different capacities. She especially loved watching her grandsons participate in their various sports.
She is survived by her son, Edward (Karen) Zeigler of Muncie, Indiana; grandson, Ryan Zeigler of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandson, Craig (Tammy) Zeigler of Folsom, California; and two great-grandchildren, Austin Zeigler and Kaylee Zeigler.
Sarabelle was preceded in death by three sisters, Ellen Leyse, Iona Melchi, and Irene Sprunger; and brother, Ralph Beer.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Cross Community Church in Berne, Indiana with Pastor Chris Kruchkow officiating. Burial will follow at M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne, Indiana.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Cross Community Church in Berne.
In lieu of floral gifts, the family asks memorials be given to Crossroad Children’s Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
