Ruth Mary Liechty, 84, rural Berne, passed away on December 26, 2017 at Adams Memorial Hospital, Decatur. She was the daughter of Robert and Marcella Moser Lehman born on November 14, 1933 in Adams County. She married Byron W. Liechty on October 8, 1955 who survives.
Ruth Mary was a faithful member of the First Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday School. She was a former employee of the Berne Witness and also helped her husband on the farm. Ruth Mary's interests included organizing family picture albums, gardening, reading and was a volunteer at Swiss Village.
Survivors include her husband, Byron, daughter, Becky(Brock)Zehr of Ft. Wayne, sons, Tom Liechty of Decatur, Rick(June)Liechty of Berne, Jeff(Cheryl)Liechty of Berne, sisters; Barbara Yoder of Berne, Marjorie(Clyde)Wulliman of Berne, Louise(Charles)Lehman of Berne, brothers; Fred(Sonia)Lehman of Berne, John Lehman of Berne, Steve(Rhonda)Lehman of Ft. Wayne, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Preceding in death are her parents, brothers, David and Robert Lehman, and grandson, Nicholas Liechty.
Funeral services are Saturday, December 30 at 10:30 am at the First Mennonite Church with visitation 1 hour prior to the services. Visitation also Friday, December 29 from 3 to 8 pm at the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home. Officiating is Pastor Jerry A. Flueckiger . Burial is in the MRE Cemetery, Berne
Preferred memorials are to the Mennonite Central Committee Meat Canner.
