Ruth E. Coil

Ruth E. Coil, 92, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Sunday afternoon, July 14, 2024, at Adams Memorial Hospital.

She was born on November 29, 1931, in Pleasant Mills, Indiana to the late Carl Ehrsam and Cleo (Foor) Ehrsam.

She was united in marriage to Edwin E. Coil on April 22, 1951, at Pleasant Mills Methodist Church and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2021.

She was a member of the Pleasant Mills Methodist Church and the Daughters of the Nile (Teti Sheri Temple No. 60).

Ruth graduated from Pleasant Mills High School in 1949. Along with being a homemaker she worked at General Electric in Decatur for 17 years.

She is survived by son, Rick (Jean) Coil of White Lake, Michigan; son, Eric (Sherry) Coil of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Denise (Jeff) Alberding of Decatur, Indiana; sister-in-law, Alice Ehrsam of Decatur, Indiana; sister-in-law, Betty Howell of Wapakoneta, Ohio; brother-in-law, Rex Coil of Springfield, Ohio; four grandchildren, Christie (Neil) Komer, Aimee (Brad) Badarak, Lance (Kaitlin Paul) Coil, and Blake (Samantha Ortiz) Coil; two step-grandchildren, Jordan Lister and Jennifer Starlin; seven great-grandchildren, Landon and Caroline Komer, Trevor and Oliver Badarak, Remi, Edwin and Emmett Coil.

Ruth is preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Ehrsam; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Gehron, and Teresa Leppla; and three brothers–in–law, Richard, Larry, and LaVerne Coil.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana with Pastor John McCullough officiating. Burial will follow at M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne, Indiana.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.

Preferred memorials can be made to the  Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church or Shriners Hospital.
