Roman L. Hilty

Roman L. Hilty, 82, of Berne, Indiana passed away Friday, January 20, 2023, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born on January 13, 1941, in Adams County, Indiana to Chris H. and Lydia L. (Schwartz) Hilty. He married Flossie B. Eicher on April 11, 1963, in Berne, Indiana.

Roman was a member of the Old Order Amish.

He was a salesman for Hilty Builder and Supplies for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Flossie B. Hilty of Berne, Indiana; son, Willis (Anna Mae) Hilty of Shipshewana, Indiana; daughter, Marilyn (Amos) Schwartz of Monroe, Indiana; son, Arlen (Melinda) Hilty of Monroe, Indiana; son, Lavon (Mary) Hilty of Berne, Indiana; three brothers, Sam L. Hilty of Berne, Indiana, Joe L. (Mary Ann) Hilty of Monroe, Indiana and Marvin L. (Martha) Hilty of Berne, Indiana; four sisters, Lydiann Yoder of Vincennes, Indiana, Anna Mae (James) Lengacher of Woodburn, Indiana, Laura Miller and Carol (Lavern) Troyer both of Berne, Indiana; 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Roman was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alvin Hilty, and Edward Hilty; sister, Marie Shetler; daughter-in-law, Irene Hilty; and a great-grandson.

The funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2023, at the Roman L. Hilty residence, 2900 South 200 West Berne, Indiana with Bishop Mervin C. Hilty officiating. Burial will follow at Winchester Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Roman L. Hilty residence from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023, and from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2023.
