Roger L. Call, 87, of Monroe, Indiana passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur.
He was born on March 12, 1936, in Bluffton, Indiana to the late Emery Logan Call and Esther Lucille Call Wheeler.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era, before he was honorably discharged on January 4, 1963.
Roger was united in marriage to Linda L. Schug on March 28, 1959, in Adams County.
He graduated from Geneva High School Class of 1954. After graduation he went to IUPU and completed an Apprentice Program in Electrical Technology. He attended Decatur Church of God. He was a member of the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years serving part of that time as Assistant Fire Chief.
Roger was employed at Franklin Electric in Bluffton for 37 years before retiring in 2000. After retirement he was employed part-time at Zurcher Tire for twelve years.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Linda L. Call of Monroe, Indiana; son, Dennis (Julie) Call of Decatur, Indiana; son, Douglas (Beth) Call of Fremont, Indiana; daughter, Jennifer (Jeff) Blackburn of Monroe, Indiana; sister, Carol (Larry) Hornaday of Mesa, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Jonathan (Hillary) Call, Kayli (Doug) Roop, Logan (Cassie) Call, Jace Blackburn, Jenae (Chandler) Okey, Jantz Blackburn, Lance (Rachel) Call and Conner Call; seven great-grandchildren, Jackson Call, Marlowe Roop, Blake Ann and Lincoln Call, Nora and Reece Okey, Owen Fogarty and three on the way.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Call as an infant; three brothers, Don, Harold, and Robert Call; and one sister, Mary Tonnelier.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Troy Green officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.
Family and friends will be received two hours prior to the service from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.
Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #43 Color Guard after the funeral service on Sunday.
Preferred memorials are to Monroe Volunteer Fire Department.
