Robert Thomas Minick, 77, of Woodburn, Indiana passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, June 29, 2020, at Parkview Regional Medical Center during a medical procedure.
He was born on March 7, 1943in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Elmer L. and Catherine S. (Salmon) Minick. Bob was united in marriage to Carolyn Gibson on January 30, 1965 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville and she survives after 55 years of marriage.
Bob was a lifelong Catholic. He was a member of the American Legion Post #377 along with the Old Ford Model A Club and the Curbside Cruisers.
Bob was a lifelong farmer and loved the land. In addition to his farming, he retired from Harborside Nursing Home in New Haven as a transportation driver for several years. He also worked as a diamond polisher at Hoosier Wire-Die and Woodburn Wire-Die. He was also a self-employed businessman, owning the Touch o Class Limousine Service for 10 years and A Ring Away Answering service for 5 years.
Bob’s family was the love of his life…he enjoyed watching them grow and mature as he matured. Bob loved to mow…he would “help” Renee mow her yard after finishing his own. Bob really enjoyed traveling and spending time with his tractor and car collections.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Minick of Woodburn, Indiana; daughter, Renee Buskirk of Fort Wayne, Indiana; grandson, Ronnie Buskirk; two brothers, Dan Minick of New Haven, Indiana and David (June) Minick of Huntington, Indiana; and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and James Minick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2020, at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church located at 4916 Trier Road in Fort Wayne, IN 46815 with Fr. Thomas Shoemaker officiating.
Family & friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana and one hour prior to the Mass on Friday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fort Wayne.
Preferred memorials are to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School.
