Robert L. Fritzinger, 77, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born on January 8, 1943 in Decatur, Indiana the son of the late Robert O. Fritzinger and the late Evlyn I. (Carpenter) Fritzinger. Bob was united in marriage to Beverly A. Johnston on June 26, 1981 at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Monroeville and she preceded him in death on July 30, 2009.
He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Monroeville, Indiana. Bob and Bev were custodians for the church for over 10 years and he had previously served on the church council. He was also a member of the National Education Association and the Indiana State Teachers Association.
Bob was employed as a teacher by the East Allen County Schools. At the beginning of his teaching career, he was at the Monroeville Jr High School where he taught English, U.S. History / Geography and was also a Librarian. After Monroeville High School merged with Hoagland High School, he continued his teaching in English and U.S. History at Heritage Jr/Sr High School. His teaching career spanned 33 years.
Bob and Bev had many similar interests. They both enjoyed square dancing and traveling throughout the United States.
Survivors include his son, James L. (Rose) Fritzinger of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Wendy A. (Donavon) Jackson of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Eric J. Blowers of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two sisters, Madelyn (Michael) Cadwallader of Valdese, North Carolina and Marilyn (Robert) Driver of Quincy, Michigan; five grandchildren, Cody Jackson, Taylor (Justin) Neeley, Samantha (Dalton) Neff; Brandi (Corey) Sunderman and Zachary Blowers; and three great grandchildren, Skyler Neff , Caspian Neff, Sophie Sunderman, and one more on the way.
“A drive-bye” visitation will be held from 3:30 p.m. thru 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Decatur. When a visitor arrives, they will be directed to follow a path which allows them to greet the family. You must remain in your vehicles at all times. This has been approved by the Adams County Health Department.
Due to guidelines established by the State of Indiana in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, private family services will be held at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Decatur. You are invited to visit and “like” the Facebook page for Zwick & Jahn where a video will be posted of his service which will be held later on Thursday.
Preferred memorials can be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or the Monroeville EMS.
