Ricky A. Bollenbacher Sr, 69, of Monroe, Indiana, passed away on April 1, 2022, at his residence.
He was born March 9, 1953 in Richmond, Indiana, the son of the late LeRoy Bollenbacher and the late Nora (Buchanan) Bollenbacher Dietsch. Rick was united in marriage to Deborah Roe on February 2, 1974 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chattanooga, Ohio.
A 1971 graduate of Adams Central High School, Rick was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Chattanooga, Ohio and was President of the United Steel Workers of America. He was employed for 20 years at McIntosh in Berne, Indiana and 10 years at Peyton’s in Bluffton, Indiana. Among his favorite past times, he enjoyed collecting classic cars, working in his garden and canning food for his family. Family activities included attending car shows along with rock and roll concerts where he was known as “Rock and Roll Rick”. Playing billiards, pinball and bowling were among his favorite past times. A family man at heart, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and his children. Rick was also blessed with an ornery sense of humor, was light hearted and had an unforgettable personality. He always had a joke along with a story to tell.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Bollenbacher of Monroe, Indiana; son, Ricky (Renee’) Bollenbacher Jr. of Monroe, Indiana; daughter, Tonya (Travis) Strete of Monroe, Indiana; daughter, Londa (Fred Schearer) Schumm of Decatur, Indiana; son, Chad (Marcy Allen) Bollenbacher of Monroe, Indiana; daughter, Kristy (Brendan) Rehm of Decatur, Indiana; brother Roger (Linda) Bollenbacher of Mead, Colorado, 18 Grandchildren: Alex, Isiah, Noah, Marcus and Lydia Bollenbacher, Skyla Werst, Trevor and Taylor Strete, Dylan, Chandler and Holden Schumm, Baylee and Alyssa Schearer, Madison, Cole and Brityn Bollenbacher, Hunter and Lachelle Rehm and one great grandchild, Carter Bollenbacher.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his step father, Gerald Dietsch.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana with Pastor Adam Poe officiating. Interment will follow in the Backesto Cemetery, Berne , Indiana.
Friends and family will be received from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Chattanooga, Ohio or Stillwater Hospice of Fort Wayne.
