Rick A. Rumschlag

Rick A. Rumschlag, 55, of Decatur, Ind. passed away Friday afternoon, July 7, 2023 at his sister’s residence following an illness.

Rick was born May 5, 1968 in Decatur to the late Frederick B. Rumschlag and Barbara E. (Smith) Rumschlag, who survives. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur and a 1990 graduate of Plano East High School in Plano, Texas.

Rick loved watching professional wrestling and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He was actively involved in the Special Olympics in Texas, where he lived about 15 years. Swimming, track and field, softball and bowling were some of his favorite events, and he earned many medals. Rick loved everybody and everything, especially his dogs. He was simply a sweet guy who loved going to church and seeing his friends.

Rick is lovingly survived by his mother, Barbara E. Rumschlag of Decatur; sister, Kathy (Mitch) Monroe of Decatur; sister, Lynne Bell of Decatur; brother, James Rumschlag of     Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Kristi (David) Frauhiger of Denison, Tex.; eight nieces and nephews; and eight great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Rumschlag, and sister in law, Gina Rumschlag.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur with Pastor Zachary Oedewaldt officiating. Interment will follow at Decatur Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2023 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur.
