Richard E. Myers

Richard E. Myers, 84, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Thursday morning, November 7, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

He was born on October 3, 1940 in Berne, Indiana to Elmer and Margaret (Miller) Myers. Richard was united in marriage to Nancy Dague on October 6, 1961, at Mt. Hope Church in Berne, Indiana.

Richard was employed as a welder at Automatic Sprinkler in Monroe for 30 years before its closing. Welding was a skill that he passed onto to his son, Stacy, and also his grandson, Brian of which they are both thankful. He then worked part time at “From Trees to These” doing woodworking and also farmed. He was a member of the Pipe Fitters Union.

Richard enjoyed participating in truck pulls with his son. 

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Myers of Decatur, Indiana; two daughters, Susan (Steven) Roe and Monica (Gary) Lepper both of Decatur, Indiana; son, Stacy (Lori) Myers of Decatur, Indiana; two sisters, Doris Neuenschwander and Marilyn Herman both of Berne, Indiana; five grandchildren, Brian (Amy) Williamson, Sara (Paul) Mesing, Abbie (Fletcher Mielke) Lepper, Brooke Lepper, and Alex Myers; and two great-grandchildren, Oakley and Kenzie Mesing.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Charlotte Myers and a stillborn sister, Shirley Myers.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Ralph Klinker officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope (Willard) Cemetery in Berne, Indiana.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2024, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. 

 Preferred memorials can be given to Mt. Hope Church.
