Rebecca L. Dekoninck

Rebecca L. DeKoninck, 70, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was born on November 13, 1952, in Adams County, Indiana to the late Walter and Charlotte(Moellering) Conrad. Becky was united in marriage to Thomas DeKoninck on August 21, 1982, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim in Decatur and helped on the bereavement committee and LWML. She was a fifty-year member of the Women’s Auxiliary of Poe Volunteer Fire Department.

Becky was a secretary at various places in her life.

She loved cooking for family, friends, church, and anyone she could cook for she did… and was good at it. Becky enjoyed playing cards and played on a card league on Tuesday during the day. She was a devoted wife, mother and nana.

Becky is survived by her husband, Thomas DeKoninck of Decatur, Indiana; son, Matthew (Rachel) DeKoninck of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Amy Florian of Decatur, Indiana; sister,  Nancy Ladd of New Haven, Indiana; one grandson, Jamison; five step-grandchildren, Montana, Michael, Tyler, Draven, Xander; and one step-great-granddaughter, Helena; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Robert Conrad in infancy.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim with Pastor Matthew Ulmer officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Friedheim in Decatur, Indiana.

Family and friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Preferred memorials are to LWML, Friedheim and Poe Volunteer Auxiliary and Jamison’s Education Fund (Make checks payable to Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home).
