Ralph E. Marquardt, 78, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at his residence following an unexpected medical event.
He was born on March 24, 1943 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Raymond E. Marquardt and late Catherine (Johnston) Marquardt.
Ralph was united in marriage to Betty Gerardot at the East Liberty United Methodist Church and she preceded him in death on April 17, 2019.
He was a farmer for many years. In addition, he was a production worker at International Harvester in Fort Wayne until it closed in 1982. Following the closure, he transferred, along with many others, to the Navistar plant in Springfield, Ohio until he retired with over 45 years of service.
Ralph enjoyed his farming. You could usually find him playing in the dirt to plant anything that produced a crop…at the time of his death, he was preparing the dirt to plant onions.
Ralph is survived by his son, Andrew (Felicia) Marquardt of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Amanda Marquardt of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Chris (Jennifer) Marquardt of Monroeville, Indiana; brother, Larry (Karen) Marquardt of Monroeville, Indiana; two sisters, Judy Wagner and Nancy (Charlie) Raber both of Monroeville, Indiana; five grandchildren, Christine (James) Sproat, Autumn Marquardt, Kathryn Marquardt, Scarlett Marquardt, and Noah Marquardt.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Marquardt.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2021 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville with Pastor Ralph Klinker officiating.
Friends and family will be received from 12 Noon to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville and one hour prior to services Monday also at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the family.
