Ralph W. Hamrick, 92, of Decatur passed away early Friday, February 22, 2019 at Adams Woodcrest.
He was born on November 1, 1926 in Adams County, Indiana to Jesse R. & Iola (Cordell) Hamrick. Ralph had been married to Kathryn L. Baxter and Frances L. Dull, both preceded him in death.
He served his country in the United States Army during WWII serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
Ralph attended the Decatur Church of God. He was a member of the UAW Bargaining Committee of International Harvester for 20 years in Fort Wayne and also a member of the National American Legion.
Ralph graduated from Willshire High School in 1944. He retired from International Harvester in 1980 with over 37 years of service.
He enjoyed bowling & woodworking. Ralph loved to garden and had a “Green Thumb.”
He is survived by son, Jerry W. Hamrick of Decatur; daughter, Janet (John) Myers of Willshire, Ohio; brother, Ray Hamrick of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Phyllis Myers of Willshire, Ohio & Eunice Reppert of Fort Wayne; & grandchildren, Jennifer (Frank) Foy & Nicole (Jeff) Munden; one step great- grandchild, Lachlan Foy.
He was preceded in death by his parents & a brother, Richard Hamrick.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Don Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Willshire Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #43 Color Guard.
Family & friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
Preferred memorials are to Decatur Church of God.
