Paul Ernest Zehr, 80, of Berne, Indiana, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 30, 2019, at Swiss Village in Berne.
He was born on January 26, 1939 in Berne, Indiana, to the late Ernest and Eugenia (Shepard) Zehr. He met Marilyn Haight at God’s Bible School and College in Cincinnati, Ohio and married her on October 28, 1961 in Pennsylvania. She preceded him in death on September 26, 2018.
Paul was a faithful member of Mt. Hope Church of the Nazarene. He was a Sunday school teacher, song leader, and a board member.
He worked in a purchasing, scheduling, and supervisory role at EP Graphics for 42 years.
Paul was an avid reader. He enjoyed woodworking, tree cultivation, and collecting printing memorabilia. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Most of all Paul loved traveling with his wife, Marilyn.
He is survived by his daughter, Darlene Zehr of Adrian, Michigan; son, Darrell (Melisa) Zehr of Middletown, Indiana; son, Duane (Dawn) Zehr of Helena, Montana; son, Brad (Julie) Zehr of Spencerville, Indiana; and five grandchildren, Shelsea Zehr, Cassie Zehr, Christian Zehr, Andrew Zehr, and Allie Zehr.
Paul is preceded in death by a sister, Esther Richardson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2019, at Mt. Hope Church of the Nazarene in rural Berne, with Pastor David Cox officiating. Burial will follow the Evangelical Mennonite Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2019, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Preferred memorials can be made to Christian Literature for Africa.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Zwick & Jahn Funeral Homes – Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne, Indiana.
