Paul D. Miller, 95, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday morning, February 19, 2025 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
He was born on October 29, 1929 in Adams County to the late Chalmer and Lucille (Fleming) Miller.
Paul served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Paul married Eileen May Bultemeyer on January 9, 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen and she preceded him in death on July 20, 2017.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur as well as the American Legion Post #43 and Disabled American Veterans. He worked for the Pennsylvania Rail Road for 16 years. He retired in 1989 as a machine operator from General Electric in Decatur with 25 years of service.
Paul enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid Purdue basketball and Cincinnati Reds baseball fan. He enjoyed woodworking and made several items for family and friends. He loved sitting outside on his front porch during warm weather, watching the birds and squirrels. He liked to take car rides through his old stomping grounds, and see the changes in the seasons. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and enjoyed telling jokes.
Survivors include his son, Jeffrey Miller of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Rhonda Miller of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Sandra (Norman) Miller of Decatur, Indiana; three grandchildren, Lindsey (Jason) Cary, Amanda (John) Benshoof , & Sara (Anthony) Hammond; and seven great-grandchildren, Grayson & Hudson Cary; Marah and Tessa Benshoof; & Alden, Scarlett, and Emmitt Hammond.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eileen; three brothers, Eugene, Donald and Chalmer Miller and two sisters, Bonita Shoaf and Fayma Geyer.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur, Indiana, with Pastor Zach Oedewaldt officiating. Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to service at the church on Tuesday.
Graveside military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #43 of Decatur.
Preferred memorials can be given to Zion Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society.
