Patricia Anne (Patsy) Oberley, 89, passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2023.
She had been residing at Adams Heritage nursing facility following a fall on New Year’s Eve, where she was surrounded by the love of family and friends over the last five months.
Patsy attended Central Catholic high school in Fort Wayne where she graduated salutatorian of her class. She married her childhood sweetheart Richard (Dick) Oberley in July of 1953 and they quickly started their family of seven D’s who all loved her dearly: Diane (Steve) Edwards, Dale, Dean, David (Rosie) Oberley, Darlene (John) Corbett, Donna (Frank) Bruggner, and Dina Oberley.
Patsy, also known as “sexy grandma,” had a special relationship with all of her wonderful grandchildren: Ryan Edwards, Alison (Bobby) Bassman, Jason Edwards, Jonny (Chloe) Edwards; Nicholas (Juanita) Oberley, Jenna (Aaron) Springhetti, Lauren (Joe) Klauer; Alana (Arec) Hess, Michael Bruggner, Jenelle Bruggner; Sara (Andy) Stebbins, and Arie Lorenz. She was so proud of them, often touting the fact that there are ‘no dumb ones, no ugly ones.’
She was preceded in death by her husband, and by her brother John Reuille. She is survived by brother, Barney (Pat) Reuille and sister Betty Lou (Dick) Hathaway. She is also survived by great grandchildren: Westin, Declan, Emmy and Colt Oberley; Aden, Ethan and Isla Bassman; Rose and Nora Stebbins; and August Edwards.
Patsy loved her time and all of the people she met at the Four Aces Tavern, which she operated from 1969-1993. She also was a lifelong member of St. Louis Besançon parish. She loved giving hugs and cheering for the Chicago Cubs, and was often the first to “like” a social media post, often commenting “Grandma loves you.”
Not a day went by that Patsy didn’t say “Lots to be thankful for“. She will be missed and we all should remember her loving optimistic outlook on life.
Family and friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023 at St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023, at St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church with Fr. Tyrell Alles officiating, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
