Patricia J. “Patty” Hunter, 64, of Decatur, Indiana passed away early Monday morning, September 7, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, following a brief battle with leukemia.
Patty was born on June 17, 1956 in Decatur, Indiana to Robert E. and Ardena M. (Nevil) Hunter.
She was a member of the USBC Bowling Association of Adams County.
Patty retired from the deli department at Kroger’s in Decatur. She previously was employed Hardee’s in Decatur prior to their closing.
Bowling was a passionate hobby and sport for Patty. She was fundamental in keeping youth bowling alive and going in Decatur for decades. For her achievement and support, she was inducted into the Adams County Bowling Hall of Fame. She was also a supporter of the Wildcats Little League.
She is survived by three brothers, Donald (Sherry) Hunter of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Robert A. (Rose) Hunter of Columbia City, Indiana; and Richard (Karen) Hunter of Convoy, Ohio; sister, Peggy Hunter of Berne, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Roger D. Hunter on November 17, 2019.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Roy Nevil officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Geneva, Indiana.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2020, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Due to public concerns of safety, we request family and visitors practice social distancing and the wearing of masks.
Preferred memorials are to the donor’s local animal shelter.
