Pastor Roger W. Olson

Pastor Roger W. Olson, 88, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Lutheran Life Villages in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on June 19, 1936, in Holman, Wisconsin to the late William and Agnes (Hewlitt) Olson. Roger was united in marriage to the late Loide M. (Schutes) Olson on August 15, 1987. Following their marriage, she excelled at being a Pastors wife and supporting him in his ministry.

Roger commissioned as a Captain in the United States Army, being honorably discharged following his service.

He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. 

Roger was an ordained minister in the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. The vast majority of his ordained years were spent as the pastor at what is now Lutheran Life Villages – Anthony where he ministered to the needs of the many residents there for over 20 years.

Roger greatly enjoyed horseback riding and antique collecting in his spare time. But nothing could replace the time he spent with his grandson.

Survivors include his son, Chuck (Jennifer) Olson of Lancaster, Ohio; three step-sons, Jeff Schutes of Washington, DC, Paul (Gerri) Schutes of Johns Creek, Georgia, and John (Anne) Schutes of Brimfield, Massachusetts; one grandchildren, Tyler Olson; five step-grandchildren, Allison Schutes, John Schutes Jr., Rachel Schutes, Katherine Schutes, and Sarah Schutes; and three step- great-grandchildren, Ellerie, Brooklyn, and Emerson Schutes

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loide M. (Schutes) Olson.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne, Indiana with Pastor Doug Croucher officiating. Burial will follow in the Concordia Cemetery, Maumee Avenue Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Family and friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne.

Preferred memorials can be given to Lutheran Life Villages – Chapel Fund.
