Norvin Thieme, 88, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Monday, December 11, 2023, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was born on August 30, 1935, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Amos Thieme and the late Emma (Selking) Thieme.
Norvin served his country during the Korean War.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #43 in Decatur, Indiana.
He was a lifelong farmer in Adams County. Additionally, he worked in home construction and as a heavy equipment operator.
Norvin was an avid hunter throughout his lifetime and trap shooting back in the day. In his later years, he enjoyed golfing.
Survivors include his daughter, Cindy (Terry) Grubaugh of Decatur, Indiana; son, David (Jeanne) Thieme of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Leo Thieme of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Deloris (Jim) Cheatwood of Georgia; six grandchildren, Ben (Ashley) Thieme, Patrick Thieme, Sarah Thieme, Heath (Stephanie) Barnes, Cory Barnes, Thaddeus (Allyson) Grubaugh; five great-grandchildren, Delight & Zoey Barnes; Arielle Schuhlein, Riley, and Noah Thieme; and one great-grandbaby “G” on the way.
Norvin was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Nuerge and Marlene Wilson; and three brothers, Arnold, Alfred & Otto Thieme.
In following Norvin’s wishes, there will be no public services.
Preferred memorials can be given to the American Legion Post #43, and mailed to the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home- 520 N. 2nd St. Decatur, Indiana 46733.
