Norma Louise St. John

July 22, 1934 — December 16, 2020

Norma Louise St. John, 86, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Adams Woodcrest.

She was born July 22, 1934 in Grover Hill, Ohio to Clayton and Grace (Thomas) Stemen.

Norma was a high school graduate and a member of Decatur Church of God.

She was primarily employed with the State of Indiana as a Social Worker in the Department of Medicaid and Public Assistance.  Following her time with the State of Indiana, she continued to help others in the community by working at Pathways which was part of the Adams Memorial Hospital.  Volunteering was also important to her and she became very involved with Love Inc.

Norma was a very crafty person. She was a very good cook and enjoyed attempting to teach her children and grandchildren how to cook. Being concerned with her community was important and she fostered many children over the years when needed.

She is survived by daughter, Mary (Mike) Eckrote of Preble, Indiana; son, Martin St. John of New Mexico; daughter, Michelle (Steve) De La Rosa of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Richard (Samantha) St. John of Macy, Indiana; brother, Dale (Pam) Stemen of Defianace, Ohio; and 12 grandchildren, Matthew Eckrote, Martin St. John, Christa De La Rosa, Melissa Melton, Daniel De La Rosa, Manda Woodall, David De La Rosa, Gabriel St. John, Randall Ward, Marcus Ward, Estella Ward and James Ward.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Barbara Stemen in infancy; and a brother, Joseph Stemen.

A Memorial Service for Norma will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana with Steve De La Rosa officiating.

Friends and family will be received from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday before the memorial service.

Preferred memorials are to Love INC in Decatur.
