Naomi Ann Wiederkehr, 87, of Berne, Indiana passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Swiss Village in Berne, Indiana.
She was born on March 22, 1932 in Clyde, Ohio the daughter of the late Rev. C.H. Wiederkehr and the late Ruth (Gerig) Wiederkehr.
Naomi was a member of the West Missionary Church in Berne where she had been a Sunday school teacher. She also attended the Spring Hill Missionary Church.
Naomi was educated in Berne, Indiana and Clyde, Ohio schools and was a graduate of Fort Wayne Bible College. She held positions in libraries in Peoria, Illinois, Fort Wayne and Berne, Indiana, and in the Berne branch of the Bank of Geneva. Naomi was active in the children’s ministry of various churches. She was an author and illustrator of children’s picture books including the book “What Does the Pastor Do,” and other literature for children. She delighted in using her sewing and knitting skills to benefit young children in missions both locally and abroad. She used her artistic ability to create lovely greeting and note cards.
Naomi will be remembered for her deep love of her Savior and for her jovial and happy spirit.
Survivors include her brother, Rev. Gareth Wiederkehr of Berne; and two sisters, Marilyn Stokes of Lima, Ohio, and Miriam Ogden of Morton, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Rosemary Wiederkehr.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2019 at the Swiss Village Auditorium in Berne with Rev. Bill Hull officiating. Interment will follow in the M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne, Indiana.
Friends will be received from 11:30 a.m. up until the 2:30 p.m. time of service on Monday, October 14, 2019 at the Swiss Village Auditorium in Berne.
Preferred memorials can be given to the Swiss Village Endowment Fund.
