Mildred E. Riley, 95, of Berne, Indiana formerly of Monroe, Indiana passed away Wednesday morning, November 15, 2023, at Swiss Village in Berne.
She was born on March 15, 1928, in Wells County, Indiana to the late Orval P. and Edith C. (Bowman) Barger. Mildred was untied in marriage to Robert A. Riley on June 24, 1950, in Linn Grove, Indiana and he preceded her in death on August 25, 1986.
Mildred was a member of Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church.
She graduated from Lancaster High School and faithfully served her family as a homemaker.
Mildred loved watching IU Basketball. She also enjoyed going to the lakes and playing card games.
She is survived by her son, Michael E. (Nancy) Riley of Massillon, Ohio; son, Arnold L. (Kathy) Riley of Monroe, Indiana; daughter, Marcia K. (William) Schwalm of St. James City, Florida; daughter, Annamae (Scot) Odle of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughter, Robin A. (Kevin) Caffee of Willshire, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mildred was preceded in death by five sisters, Virgean L. Bowers, Wilma M. Funk, Phyllis J. Rinehart, Helen M. Thieme, and Marcella L. Gerber; and a brother, Richard E. Barger.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana with Pastor Ernie Suman officiating. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday.
Preferred memorials can be given to Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church or Stillwater Hospice.
