Michael P Sommers

Michael P. Sommers, 73, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

He was born on March 17, 1951 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Ralph W. Sommers and the late Alice M. (Pearsall) Sommers.

Mike was united in marriage to Marilyn Minnich on June 22, 1974 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hessen Cassel and she survives following almost 50 years of marriage.

Mike was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest.  He was the owner / operator of Fireside Motors in Ft. Wayne, where he specialized in auto body repair.

Mike had a very social and outgoing personality.  As he became older, he grew in his cooking ability, something that Marilyn will dearly miss.  Marilyn learned to share the duties in the kitchen to accommodate his culinary skills.  He also loved spending time in his garden, which allowed him to share the bounty with his friends.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn J. Sommers of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Paul Michael Sommers of     Fort Wayne, Indiana; and brother, William (Vianna) Sommers of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

In addition in his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Susan Smith.

Private family services will be held with Pastor Josef Henning officiating.  Burial will follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Soest.

In lieu of flowers and Marilyn’s allergies, she requests that memorials for Mike be made to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church – Organ Fund.
