Mason Christian Hammond

Mason Christian Hammond, 29, of Decatur passed away early Sunday morning at his residence.

He was born on June 4, 1989 in Decatur, Indiana to Steven W. Hammond and Cassandra J. (Weiland) Hammond.

Mason was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur.

He graduated from Bellmont High School in 2008 and had previously been employed at Prime Decatur Kleen.

Mason was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed Purdue University, Oakland Raiders, Houston Rockets, and Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his two daughters, Aubree Rose Hammond and Braelynn Christian Hammond both of Decatur; his mother, Cassie Hammond of Decatur; father, Steve Hammond of Decatur; two sisters, Stevie Hammond of Decatur and Lexie (Jason) Beer of Berne; maternal grandparents, Robert (Phyllis) Weiland of Fort Wayne; and eight nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Shaun Hammond; fiance, Lexy Pharr; paternal grandparents, Don & Connie Hammond; and maternal grandmother, Judy Weiland.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2018 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with a Rosary service to be held at 1:45 p.m. Friday prior to the visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at St. Mary of the Assumption
Catholic Church in Decatur with Father Dave Ruppert officiating.  Interment will follow in the St Joseph
Catholic Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to his Children’s Education Fund with checks payable to Steve Hammond.
