Mary I. Wickey

Mary I. Wickey, 71, of Berne, Indiana passed away at 5:59 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Reid Health Hospital in Richmond, Indiana.

Mary was born to Daniel C. and Mary J. (Wickey) Schwartz on July 24, 1951 in Geneva, Indiana.

Her parents preceded her in death.  Mary was married on June 24, 1971 in Adams County, Indiana to Samuel E. Wickey and he survives. Mary was a member of the Old Order Amish and was a homemaker.

Mary is survived by five sons and two daughters, Chris (Rebecca) Wickey  of Geneva, Indiana; John (Mary) Wickey of Berne, Indiana; Samuel (Ruth) Wickey of Berne, Indiana; David (Susan) Wickey of Berne, Indiana; Daniel (Sylvia) Wickey of Berne, Indiana; Mary (Truman) Troyer of Geneva, Indiana; and Rachel (Henry) Schmidt of Salem, Indiana; two brothers and two sisters, David I. Schwartz of Cynthiana, Kentucky; John I. (Susan) Schwartz of Mays Lick, Kentucky; Frances (Levi) Wickey of Geneva, Indiana; Rebecca (John) Schwartz of Geneva, Indiana; 47 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her grandson, Samuel S. Wickey; three brothers and two sisters, Jacob I. Schwartz, Chris I. Schwartz, Dan I. Schwartz, Leah I. Schwartz, and Lizzie I. Schwartz.

A funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the Samuel E. Wickey residence, 5370 South 100 East Berne, Indiana, with Bishop Noah Wickey officiating.  Burial will follow at Schwartz Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Samuel E. Wickey residence from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2023, and from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023.
