Mary K. Knittle, 85, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Monday, July 11, 2022 at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur.
She was born on March 6, 1937 in Decatur, Indiana to the late John Bilderback and Thelma (Hileman) Bilderback Kitson
She married Lisle G. Knittle on December 11, 1955 at Willshire Methodist Church and he preceded her in death on Mar 4, 2019.
Mary was a member of Mt. Victory United Brethren Church in Decatur. Mary was a high school graduate of Pleasant Mills High School.
She was a homemaker that joyfully enjoyed raising her children.
Mary wrote many songs, poetry, and painted. She also volunteered her time with the youth at church, she did many arts and craft projects with them. Mary and Lisle enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards with many close family and friends. Above all she loved Jesus, her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Terri L. (Dale) Haines of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Glenda S. (Kevin) Noonan of Decatur, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Debra Knittle of Decatur, Indiana; brother, James (Becky) Bilderback of Jasper, Indiana; sister, Rose Bolingerof Statesville, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 19 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, John A. Knittle and Gregory L. Knittle; a grandson, Tony Knittle; a great-grandson, Bryson A. Knittle; sister, Elinor Hirschy; brother, John Bilderback.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Jonathan Crider officiating. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on July 15, 2022, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Mt. Victory United Brethren Church
Arrangements are by Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana.
