Mary Lou Gribler

Mary Lou Gribler, 81, of Decatur, Indiana and a former longtime resident of Willshire, Ohio passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur.

She was born on January 11, 1939, in Adams County, Indiana to the late Wayne Z. Gaunt and the late Elma R. (Bittner) Gaunt. She married the love of her life John E. Gribler on October 5, 1957 at Calvary Church and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2011, after 53 ½ years together.

Mary Lou was a member of the Willshire Church of God and Pleasant Mills Baptist Church where she had been active as a song leader and Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #207 Auxiliary in Willshire, Ohio and the Wren Garden Club. She also had served on the Ladies Board of the Van Wert County Hospital.

Mary Lou was a 1957 graduate of Decatur High School. She retired in 1992 from Central Soya in Decatur with 35 years of service. In addition, she worked at D&D Grain in Delphos, Ohio for 5 years.

She was a loving and compassionate wife, mother, and grandmother. In her free time she enjoyed lake life in Northern Indiana, garage sales, reading, crafts, decorating, crocheting, and of course traveling. During retirement, her and John took over 250 trips with the Van Wert YWCA.

Survivors include two sons, John W. (Tami) Gribler of Decatur, Illinois and Bradley E. Gribler of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two brothers, Tom Gaunt of Decatur, Indiana and Roger (Beverly) Gaunt of Decatur, Indiana; two grandsons, Nicholas (Molly) Gribler of Bethany, Illinois and Blake D. Gribler of Antwerp, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her, daughter, Elizabeth Ann Gribler in 1968; a sister, Elnora Braun in 2010; and a brother, Billy Gaunt in 2020.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, private family services and visitation will be held at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home-Decatur Church with Pastor Wayne Gullion officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City, Ohio. You are invited to visit and “like” the Facebook page for Zwick & Jahn where a video will be posted of her service.

Preferred memorials can be made to Pleasant Mills Baptist Church.
