Marvin G. “Mick” Judt, 86, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away Wednesday evening, October 26, 2022, at Golden Years Homestead in Fort Wayne.
Mick was born on May 10, 1936 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to George Judt, Jr. and Mary (Nahrwold) Judt. He was born in and lived in the same house his entire life.
He was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he ushered frequently. Marvin was a graduate of New Haven High School. He was involved with baseball, football, and basketball teams in high school where he was on the All-State team in football. It was also during high school that he began working at Strataflo…54 years later he retired.
He loved to fish and hunt. He was very interested in watching his favorite teams…the Chicago Cubs and the Indiana Hoosiers. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and playing cards. He was also a fixture at Quixote Hills as a bartender. Mick was like a father to his nephews and nieces…and his great nephews and nieces called him their “bonus grandpa.”
Mick is survived by a sister-in-law, Leila Judt of Fort Wayne, Indiana; three nephews, Jeff (Tammy) Bearman of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jerry (Kaye) Judt of Anderson, Indiana and Kent (Esky) Busche of Indianapolis, Indiana; a niece, Marsha Busche of New Haven, Indiana; and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty (Howard) Bearman and Marlene (Freeman) Busche; a brother, Wayne Judt; and a niece, Peggy (Bill) Schultz.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2022, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest with Pastor Josef Henning officiating. Burial will follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Soest.
Family and friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest.
