Marvene Louise Hardy

Marvene Louise (Friend) Hardy, 95, of Monroeville left this earth on Saturday morning, August 26, 2023, at her residence.

She was born on September 18, 1927, in Tipton, Ohio to Charles Asa Friend and Fern (Elliott) Friend. On August 25, 1946, she married Roy Lavern Hardy, who preceded her in death on August 8, 1976.

She worked for 20 years for the Defiance City School System in the dish room of the Junior High and Middle School.

She could always be found in her favorite recliner with a book or newspaper in her hands and her beloved kitty, Squeaker Marie, at her side.

Marvene is survived by daughters, Michelle and Melanie; granddaughter, Connie “the apple of her eye”. Also, survived by many nieces and nephews; a family friend, Brenda Hamrick, and her kitty, Squeaker Marie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; son, Jerry; brothers, Harold, Maywood (Curly), and Robert Friend; sisters, Pauline Petty, Vilena Ross, and LaDonna in infancy and son-in-law, John Christianson.

Private graveside services will be held for Marvene following her wishes.

Preferred memorials are to the family (checks payable to Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home) or Heart to Heart Hospice.
