Martha “Marty” L. Bradfield, 90, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Adams Heritage in Monroeville, Indiana.
She was born on April 29, 1934, in Allen County, Indiana to the late Peter J. Pitzen and the late Marie A. Kintz. Marty was united in marriage to the late Loren M. Bradfield on September 19, 1953 in Allen County. He preceded her in death on August 6, 2014.
Marty graduated from Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Following graduation she faithfully served as a homemaker where she and her late husband raised ten children. She had previously worked for the Indiana Bell, now Frontier, the US Government, Westhaven Floral, Census Bureau and the polls.
She was a member of the St. John’s Baptist Catholic Church in New Haven, Indiana where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #420 in Monroeville, Indiana and the VFW Auxiliary Post #2457 where she was the president and secretary. She loved watching NASCAR, Notre Dame football and the Indianapolis Colts.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen M. (David) Hillery of Van Wert, Ohio; daughter, Kathleen M. Parker of New Haven, Indiana; daughter, Sister Mary Joseph Boyles of Robstown, Texas; son, Michael K. (Carolyn) Bradfield of Lima, Ohio; daughter Jean A. (Tim) Schmidt of Hoagland, Indiana; son, Brian P. “Buck” (Ranell) Bradfield of Port Charlotte, Florida; daughter, Lori S. Bradfield of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Tricia G. (Todd) Anderson of Hudson, Indiana; daughter, Lynda R. (Bill) Stoops of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughter, Vicki M. (Chuck) Kizer of New Haven, Indiana; sister, Mary (Dan McCoy) Renninger of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother, Peter Pitzen of Belleville, Michigan; sister, Margaret Williams of Hershey, Pennsylvania; 30 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Marty was preceded in death by her brothers, Frederick Pitzen, Rodger Pitzen, Reverend Paul Pitzen, and Thomas Pitzen; sisters, Theresa Edsall, Zita Johnson, Rita Pitzen and Agnes Pitzen; son-in-laws, Dennis Parker and John Boyles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville, Indiana.
Family and friends will be received from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2024, with the reciting of the Holy Rosary at 2:30 p.m. at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana.
Preferred memorials can be given for Masses or the Activity Center at Adams Heritage Nursing Home in Monroeville, Indiana.
