Marlene L. Schueler

July 3, 1937 — December 30, 2020

Marlene L. Schueler, 83, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital ER following a medical event in Decatur.

She was born on July 3, 1937   in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Werner Poeppel and the late Alma (Hemsoth) Poeppel. Marlene was united in marriage to Kenneth Schueler on September 1, 1957 and he survives following 63 years of marriage.

Marlene was a longtime member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble.

Along with her husband, she was the owner / operator of the Preble Feed & Grain in Preble, Indiana.  Additionally, she was a longtime bus driver for North Adams Community Schools.

Marlene enjoyed traveling with her husband, family, and friends to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan.  There they had a lake cabin where she was able to entertain their guests and cherished the memories that were made during those years.  There were many card games that were played and many fish were caught…and some got away.  As her grandchildren grew in age, she would travel to visit them and witness the accomplishments they were having in life.  She was also an avid fan of IU Basketball and would watch the “Big Screen” at the neighbors.

Marlene is survived husband, Ken Schueler of Decatur, Indiana; daughter,         Connie (Lynn) Garner   of Ossian, Indiana; son, Jeff (Julie) Schueler of Decatur, Indiana; four grandchildren, Nathan Garner, Samantha (Jeff) Stout, Jamie Schueler, and Kevin Schueler; and two step great-grandchildren; Madison and Lillian Stout.

She was preceded in death by two Brothers and their wives:  Fred “Fritz” (Evelyn) Poeppel and Harold (Jeanette) Poeppel.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2020 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble with Pastor Andrew Yeager officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Preble.

Friends and family will be received from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church.  You will be asked to enter at the Parish Hall Entrance if able and masks are required.

Preferred memorials are to Worship Anew or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble.
