Marie Katherine Fuelling

Marie Katherine Fuelling was given life by her Creator and was born on April 29, 2010, the child of Matt and Karey Fuelling.  On May 16, 2010, she received the gift of Holy Baptism in the Name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit and became a child of God.  She confessed her baptismal faith in the rite of Confirmation on April 4, 2024, and was welcomed to the altar that same day to receive the medicine of Immortality in the Body and Blood of her Lord Jesus Christ.  One day later, on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the age of 13 years, Marie fell asleep in Jesus at Riley Hospital for Children after a brief battle with brain cancer and was welcomed to her home in heaven.  Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.

Marie was the kind of student who brought life to the halls of St. Peter-Immanuel Lutheran School. She enjoyed and was talented in many different sports. Marie was active in volleyball and basketball at St. Peter-Immanuel and Zion Lutheran Decatur, running track at Bellmont Middle School, Bellmont AAU Basketball, and Decatur Softball League.

In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, being with friends, and taking care of her animals. Marie could bring a smile to any ones face with her personality and quoting “dumb” movies.

She is survived by her parents, Matt & Karey Fuelling of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Andrew Fuelling; two sisters, Claire (Ethan Short) Fuelling and Emma Fuelling; maternal grandparents, Bill & Darlene Hitchcock of Decatur, Indiana and Kevin (Sandy Patrick) Wurm of Monroeville, Indiana; paternal grandparents, David & Karen Fuelling of Decatur, Indiana and Phyllis Fuelling of Decatur, Indiana; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral service for Marie will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Decatur, Indiana with Pastor David Koeneman officiating and Pastor Leonard Tanksley assisting. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Decatur, Indiana.

Preferred memorials are to the Marie Fuelling SPI Scholarship, Immanuel Lutheran Church Endowment, or Riley Hospital for Children.
