Margie Merriman

Margie Merriman, 91, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away early Monday morning, April 7, 2025, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur.

She was born on October 15, 1933, in Kirkland Township, Indiana to the late Carl W. and Edna A. (Kirchner) Menter. Margie was united in marriage to James D. Merriman on June 7, 1953, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble and they were married 65 years before Jim’s passing on October 17, 2018.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble where she taught Sunday School and was on the L.W.M.L. Marge was also on the O.N.O. Homemakers Extension Club, and the Social Club in Preble, Indiana.

Margie graduated from Monmouth High School in 1951. Marge and her husband, Jim were owners & operators of Amishville, USA. They had previously owned Merriman's Family Restaurant, and she was employed at Happy Humpty. Margie retired from the Dutch Mill in 2000. For many years, Jim and Margie drove motorhomes for Don Ray Drive-a-way.

Margie enjoyed baking, camping, reading, and quilting. Jim and Margie spent many winters in Florida over the years.

Survivors include her son, Randy Lee (Beth) Merriman of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Judith Lynn Teague of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Gail Ann (Carey) Webster of Roanoke, Indiana; seven grandsons, Shanon (Heather) Merriman, Anthony Merriman, Ryan (Nickol) Teague, Aaron (Caitlin) Teague, T.J. Steensma, Tyler Steensma, and Trey (Jamie Myers) Steensma; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by son-in-law, Clyde W. Teague Jr.; and brother, Don A. Menter.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble, with Pastor Andrew Yeager and Rev. Dr. Daniel Brege officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Preble.

Family and friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2025, at Adams Woodcrest, additionally from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2025, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Preferred memorial can be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble.
