Lynn A. Gerig, 73, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Kingston Care Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was born on January 24, 1947 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Alvin H. Gerig and the late Velma L. (Mooney) Gerig. He married Sharon J. Whittern on March 2, 1968 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and she survives.
He attended the Woodburn Missionary Church in Woodburn, Indiana where he was an adult Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the Fort Wayne Photography Club.
Lynn was a 1964 graduate of Woodlan High School. He received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Indiana Institute of Technology and his Master’s from Purdue University. Lynn retired from BAE Systems in Fort Wayne and prior to that had been employed at Magnavox, currently Raytheon.
Lynn enjoyed traveling, hiking, backpacking, photography, theology, farming and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon J. Gerig of Monroeville, Indiana; a daughter Jeanne Marie Gerig of Saline, Michigan and a son, Michael L. Gerig of Kempton, Indiana; sister, Doris A. (Michael) Johnson of Monroeville, Indiana and six grandchildren, Talia Peters, Abigail Gerig, Lydia Peters, Mariah Muraski, Sophia Muraski, Corbin Gerig
A private graveside service will be held.
Preferred Memorials are to Woodburn Missionary Church or Parkinson’s Foundation. Checks can be made payable to the organization and sent directly to the Zwick & Jahn office in Decatur.
Arrangements are by Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana.
