Lowell R. Thieme, 61, of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was born on July 28, 1962 in Decatur, Indiana, to the late Lester F.W. Thieme and the late Doris L. (Keuneke) Thieme.
Lowell was united in marriage to Janice Nevil on May 23, 1986, at Decatur United Brethren Church.
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Decatur. Lowell retired from the State of Indiana Board of Animal Health, where he was a meat inspector.
Lowell took a lifelong interest in his family and their activities. Stubborn is a name often used to describe Lowell. He was very competitive in all things, something that was passed down to his children...and now grandchildren. He was a dedicated fan of Purdue, an avid gardener and beekeeper, and loved playing cards, especially a good game of Pedro. He had been accused in the past of being a pickup farmer, but in reality he was a “gator farmer”. He was elected and proud of his title as THE President of the West Flatrock Road Association.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Thieme of Hoagland, Indiana; son, Lyndon (Nicole) Thieme of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Latisha (Joel) Kizer of Harlan, Indiana; daughter, Laurynn (Benjamin Fehler) Thieme of Selma, Indiana; seven sisters, Danene Shoaf of Decatur, Indiana, Dorene Serna of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Letha (James) Minick of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Loide (Jeffrey) Holtzclaw of Decatur, Indiana, Lynette (Roger) Hirschy of Wolcottville, Indiana, Dawn (Jeffery) Hummel of Monroe, Indiana, and Dynall (James) Nelson of Greenfield, Indiana; brother, Daniel (Jani) Thieme of Hoagland, Indiana; and five grandchildren, Maycee, Makinley, and Jayton Thieme, and Oliver and Easton Kizer.
Lowell was preceded in death by a sister, Lea Thieme.
