Lou Anna Hirschy

Lou Anna Hirschy, 95, of Decatur, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur.

She was born on November 9, 1927 to the late Benoit P. Johnson and the late Della M. (Longenberger) Johnson.

Lou Anna was united in marriage to Roy E. Hirschy on May 1, 1948 in Willshire, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on March 21, 2000.

She was a member of Monroe United Brethren in Christ Church.

Lou Anna was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family and friends. Although she didn’t have children of her own, her nieces and nephews were like children to her, and they all loved their Aunt Annie. She enjoyed cooking and canning for her family and friends. She collected dolls, stuffed animals, and cookie jars.

Survivors include her brother, John W. Johnson of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Richard D. (Nyla) Johnson, of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Patricia L. Jackson, of Decatur, Indiana; and 17 nieces and nephews, along with their children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brother, Robert E. Johnson and sister, Glenda L. Holloway; sister-in-laws, Roselyn Johnson Habegger, Annabelle Johnson, and Joan Johnson; brother-in-laws, Donald Holloway, Earl Habegger, and Larry Jackson; one niece, one nephew, and one great nephew.

Services for Lou Anna will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, with Pastor Ernie Suman officiating. Burial will follow in MRE cemetery, Berne, Indiana.

Family and friends will be received from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Preferred memorials can be given to Heart to Heart Hospice.
